The Trump administration just sent shockwaves through the swamp by greenlighting federal dollars for a new rail tunnel connecting New York and New Jersey. This isn’t your typical big-government handout, though. President Trump has made it crystal clear—Washington will not be used as an ATM for blue state boondoggles or cover their constant cost overruns.
For years, liberal elites in New York and New Jersey have begged for taxpayers across America to foot the bill for their pet rail projects. They think they can throw money at problems, bury failures, and send the bill down to hardworking Americans in Texas, Iowa, and the heartland. Sorry, no free rides here. Trump is making it plain: manage your projects honestly, or don’t expect endless bailouts from the federal government.

Let’s face it, these so-called “infrastructure emergencies” in leftist strongholds always seem to happen after years of mismanagement. Liberal politicians throw up their hands and expect someone else to swoop in and fix their mess. When things go south, they point fingers everywhere but the mirror. Trump is putting an end to this entitled attitude.
The Gateway Tunnel might be important for commuters, sure. But why should conservative Americans be forced to write blank checks for states that never tighten their belts? The president’s demand for strict cost control is a wake-up call to every liberal spending addict who thinks the government wallet never closes.
Once again, we see Trump taking a stand for common sense, fair play, and the American taxpayer. Maybe if New York and New Jersey spent less time trying to undermine the president and more time running their own affairs, they wouldn’t find themselves in these jams. When will liberals finally learn that Washington is not a piggy bank for their failed dreams?
