Former President Donald Trump is still working hard to secure the mighty support of his 2020 campaign’s biggest donor, Miriam Adelson. The former president’s campaign boasted that it raked in over $50 million at a swanky fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida. This just goes to show how the big Republican donors are rallying around Trump as he gears up for a rematch against President Joe Biden in November.

While Trump has been schmoozing with Adelson over dinners in Palm Beach and Las Vegas, the big question remains: will she open her checkbook and support Trump’s reelection efforts? Although she and her late husband, Sheldon Adelson, generously donated a whopping $90 million to Trump’s campaign in 2020, there’s been no sign of a check from Miriam just yet. But fear not, Trump and his fundraising network are confident that she’ll come through eventually.
But hold onto your hats, folks! It’s been a real nail-biter, as it’s unclear whether Trump’s recent comments on the Israel-Hamas conflict may have soured his relationship with Adelson. In the past, Adelson has been a big fan of Trump’s stance on Israel, especially when he moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. However, with the ongoing tensions in the region, Adelson is “sensitive to anything that looks to compromise the security position of Israel,” according to a close source.
In a display of presidential persistence, Trump has been wining and dining his top donors lately, making personal calls, and ramping up his outreach to his loyal supporters. His team has even been laying out detailed plans for how the donation money will be used, all to ensure that he is in top form for the upcoming election. And let’s not forget the joint financing agreement with the Republican National Committee, where the donation money first goes to Trump’s campaign and then the Save America PAC before the RNC gets its share. This strategy has put the RNC at a slight financial disadvantage compared to the Democratic National Committee.
But wait, there’s more! Despite Trump’s fundraising efforts, the Biden Campaign and the DNC managed to outdo Trump and the RNC in March. Biden and the DNC brought in a whopping $90 million, leaving them with a hefty $192 million in cash on hand by the end of the month. In contrast, Trump and the RNC raised $66 million and had $93 million on hand.
So, what’s the verdict? Trump is pulling out all the stops to secure the top spot in the fundraising race, and it’s anyone’s guess whether Adelson will once again open her heart and her purse strings to support his campaign. Only time will tell!
