Former President Donald Trump has once again garnered media attention with his signature style. This time, he has criticised CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins and her new show's ratings, claiming that the network "should have listened to [him]." Collins, who formerly covered the White House for CNN and gained notoriety for her adversarial reporting during the Trump administration, recently transitioned to hosting "The Source with Kaitlan Collins" at 9:00 p.m. However, just over a month after its premiere, Trump and conservative media have attacked the programme for its ratings.

In typical Trump fashion, he expressed his opinion without reservation. John Nolte, the senior writer for Breitbart, was cited in an email sent by Trump's campaign that highlighted the low ratings of Collins' programme. The email stated sarcastically, "CNN should have listened to me. Ultimately, my advice is both insightful and gratis. Nurse Ratched was destined to fail as an anchor, let alone a prime-time anchor, let alone the 9:00 p.m. anchor. Collins has the allure of a first wife, so why pit her against Rachel Maddow on MSNBC on Monday nights and Alex Wagner from Tuesday to Friday?"
It appears that Trump's censure resonated, as even Breitbart reported that CNN's new leadership is dissatisfied with Collins and her show's ratings. Collins attracts only a quarter of Sean Hannity's audience on Fox News, according to The Source, which "has shown little substantial growth" since its launch in early June. Reportedly, CNN insiders are now questioning how long Collins can remain in the 9 p.m. timeslot, with one report claiming that Collins will be remembered as Chris Licht's "original sin."
Trump and CNN have had a tumultuous relationship, with Trump frequently referring to CNN as "fake news." However, as Trump's ratings increase, Collins' programme appears to be struggling. Perhaps CNN ought to have listened to Trump after all.
