The University of Southern California has decided to cancel its big graduation ceremony due to safety concerns after recent protests on campus. The school shared that they are implementing new safety measures which will require more time to check everyone coming to the ceremony, forcing them to forgo the main stage event that usually brings together thousands of students and their families.
Pro-Palestinian protesters caused disruptions at USC by gathering in Alumni Park and clashing with law enforcement officers. In one instance, protesters surrounded a police car and demanded the release of a detainee, leading to a tense standoff that lasted for over half an hour. This display of unrest follows similar incidents at other universities like Columbia, Yale, Michigan, and UT Austin.
