The GAO and other watchdogs have warned that the reserve has not been properly modernized and that long-term planning was neglected while politicians chased virtue signaling instead of energy security.
That is why the decisive move by the Trump administration to coordinate a global release and authorize a 172 million barrel draw from the SPR was the responsible action Americans expect when things get rough. Leadership means using every tool to blunt price shocks and protect households, and the President’s push to rally allies and stabilize supplies is exactly the America First energy strategy our country needs.
Hardworking Americans should demand more than temporary fixes: refill the reserve, restore domestic refining and production, and stop letting woke politics sabotage our energy independence. This is not a partisan plea but a patriotic one — secure the supply, defend our economy, and hold the political class accountable at the ballot box if they refuse to do the job.
