Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez publicly took a cheap shot at President Trump over data centers, even suggesting she’d happily put one on his properties to make a political point about their local impact. The exchange has become a fresh example of Democrats weaponizing culture-war theatrics against a technology and energy buildout that is quietly powering American renewal.
President Trump and other conservative leaders have rightly embraced data centers as engines of high-paying jobs, investment, and American dominance in the global AI race. These facilities pay taxes, create construction and maintenance work, and anchor regional economies that otherwise face decline — exactly the kind of private-sector growth conservatives should champion.
That does not mean critics don’t raise real concerns: residents in Georgia have accused a Meta data center of contributing to local water problems, and these complaints deserve transparent investigation and federal oversight when warranted. But the left’s reflexive response has been to vilify industry rather than insist on practical, technical fixes that protect communities while preserving economic opportunity.
Alex Epstein, founder of the Center for Industrial Progress and a guest on The Will Cain Show, made the obvious conservative case: data centers are a boon, not a blight, for America’s industrial future and energy security. Epstein argues from a pro-human, pro-industrial perspective that expanding reliable power and computing capacity is essential to national strength — a perspective every patriot should applaud.
So here’s the conservative takeaway: don’t fall for the Democrats’ performative outrages that pretend economic development is some moral failing. Stand for policies that insist on community protections where needed, yes, but that do not kneecap the very investments that create prosperity, fund schools, and pay for local services.
If we want to keep America first in AI and the 21st-century economy, we must back the builders, hold regulators to smart standards, and push back against those who would trade jobs and progress for woke virtue signaling.
