Jeffrey Katzenberg, Biden’s campaign co-chair and former Hollywood boss, is finding himself in hot water as donors abandon ship following Biden’s disastrous debate performance. According to a report by Semafor, Katzenberg held an emergency meeting with the president, warning him that donations were drying up due to concerns about his age. While Katzenberg denied the report, Democrat strategist James Carville confirmed it, stating that donors were in revolt.
The calls for Biden to quit his re-election campaign are growing louder as concerns about his cognitive decline remain unaddressed. Even Democrat leaders like Rep. Adam Schiff are turning on Biden, urging him to step down. Hollywood donors, including George Clooney, Ari Emanuel, Reed Hastings, Barry Diller, and Damon Lindelof, are abandoning the Biden campaign en masse. Even Rob Reiner, one of Biden’s most loyal supporters, has called for him to step down.
Katzenberg, who had promised to deliver all the necessary resources for Biden’s re-election campaign, is now facing the wrath of donors who feel betrayed. The Hollywood Democratic insider said, “Everyone is furious. People are pissed – they feel betrayed.” It seems that the mother’s milk of politics, money, has dried up for Biden, leaving his campaign in a very difficult position.
While Katzenberg may deny the reports and insist that they will raise the money needed to run a winning campaign, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Donors are growing increasingly skeptical of Biden’s ability to lead and are taking their support elsewhere. As the road ahead looks more challenging, it remains to be seen if the Biden campaign can recover from this setback.
