Joe Biden has long been a vocal proponent of gun control, and on Tuesday he once again called for the banning of assault weapons. Biden’s 1994 gun law was controversial at the time, with gun rights advocates arguing that it infringed on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. Despite the criticism, Biden has continued to push for stricter gun laws, and on Tuesday he urged Congress to “do something big” and ban assault weapons.

The conservative Republican perspective on Biden’s call for a ban on assault weapons is that it is an infringement on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. The 1994 gun law that Biden championed was a violation of the Second Amendment, and it did not have the desired effect of reducing mass shootings. In fact, mass shootings tripled after the law expired in 2004.

The reality is that Biden’s call for a ban on assault weapons is nothing more than a political ploy to appease his liberal base. He knows that the ban won’t do anything to reduce mass shootings, but he’s willing to sacrifice the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens in order to score political points.
Biden’s position on gun control has been inconsistent over the years, and he has flip-flopped on the issue multiple times. He has also been criticized by some gun rights advocates for his support of stricter gun laws. This is unsurprising, as Biden has never been a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.
The bottom line is that Biden’s call for a ban on assault weapons is nothing more than a political stunt. It won’t do anything to reduce mass shootings, and it will only serve to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. It’s time for Biden to stop playing politics with the Second Amendment and focus on real solutions to reduce gun violence.
