An idiot criminal thug got what was coming to him after he tried to carjack some undercover cops, and luckily for us, the whole thing was caught on camera. The incident went down on June 19th, 2023, and the viral clip is from police bodycam footage, according to the Courier-Journal.

In the video, you can see the 21-year-old criminal, who clearly didn’t get the memo about not messing with the police, walking up to the cops’ car while wearing a black balaclava. He pulls out a gun, points it at the undercover cops through the car window, and then goes ahead and opens the officer’s door, still holding the weapon all crazy-like. Not the smartest move, buddy.
Dumb ways to die.

But here’s where the story takes a turn for the better – the cop, a badass veteran named Matt Hayden from the Louisville Metro Police Department, wasn’t about to let this thug ruin his day. He immediately screams “Police!” and then unleashes a hail of bullets at the would-be carjacker.
And in less than 15 seconds, justice is served. The idiot criminal thug collapses to the ground, hopefully learning a valuable lesson about not messing with the police. Classic case of dumb choices leading to swift consequences.
The cop isn’t done there, though. He quickly gets on his walkie-talkie, shouting “Shots fired! Shots fired!” for all his fellow officers to hear. Can you imagine being one of those officers responding to that call? Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
But wait, there’s more. While it’s a bit hard to tell in all the chaos, it seems like the bullets actually hit the carjacker. Hey, it’s not like he didn’t deserve it. The guy ends up flat on his back, hands up, and giving up faster than you can say “criminal fail.”
According to reports, the carjacker later died from his wounds. Good riddance, I say. We don’t need people like that walking around endangering innocent lives.
The interim Chief, Jackie Gwinn-Villaroel, made sure to commend the two officers in the vehicle for their quick thinking and attempts to provide medical assistance. They were in the area for an unrelated investigation, but boy, did they end up stumbling upon quite the scene.
In case there was any doubt, bodycam footage confirms that the carjacker was armed when he tried his dumb move. The bullets fired by Officer Hayden did their job in stopping him in his tracks. That’s what you get when you mess with the best.
Honestly, it’s stories like these that give you a renewed sense of hope. The police doing their job, protecting us from idiots like this carjacker. It’s a reminder that justice will always prevail, especially when it’s served with a side of bullets. Keep up the good work, Officer Hayden, and may your aim always be true.
Now, if only we could clone Officer Hayden and have him patrolling every street, we might just see a lot less crime and a lot more justice. One can dream, right?
