The liberal stronghold of Chicago is at it again, coming up with new ways to defy federal immigration law and burden its taxpayers. The city’s far-left mayor, Brandon Johnson, is working with Cook County officials to ship illegal immigrants to nearby suburbs, all in the name of being a “sanctuary city.” This move comes as Chicago struggles to handle the massive influx of migrants arriving in the city.
But of course, Johnson presents this proposal as some sort of compassionate act, saying they are “building systems of care that provide a pathway with dignity for individuals who are seeking refuge here in the city of Chicago.” Give us a break! These illegal immigrants broke the law by entering the country unlawfully, and now they are being rewarded with a free pass to stay in our country’s third-largest city.

Not only is Chicago pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a “sanctuary city,” but the entire state of Illinois is following suit. Governor J.B. Pritzker, also a Democrat, recently signed legislation that allows non-citizens to become police officers. So now, illegal immigrants can not only live in Illinois without fear of deportation, but they can also enforce our laws? This is a complete slap in the face to the hardworking American citizens who pay their taxes and follow the rules.
And let’s not forget that Illinois is also the first state in the Midwest to offer healthcare to illegal migrants. Not only are taxpayers footing the bill for their housing and education, but now they have to pay for their healthcare too. It’s absurd! While everyday Americans struggle to make ends meet and deal with skyrocketing rent prices, the politicians in Illinois are busy pandering to illegal immigrants. It’s time for the American people to wake up and demand that our elected officials prioritize the needs and interests of American citizens above those who broke the law.
