This decline did not happen by accident. City chiefs and major-city data reviews mirror the national trend: preliminary surveys of large urban areas show downward trajectories in violent crime through mid-year reviews, proof that robust policing and federal support can turn the tide even in places once written off by pundits. Those local improvements matter most to working Americans who wake up every morning, go to jobs, pick up their kids, and want their communities to be safe — not laboratory experiments in utopian policymaking. The administration is right to trumpet results and to demand that policy follow outcomes, not ideology.
Patriots who love this country should celebrate a return to safety and keep pressure on leaders to sustain it: fund police, back prosecutors who enforce the law, and reject the moral bankruptcy of defunding or abolishing institutions that deter violence. The proof is in falling crime statistics and the faces of Americans who feel safer walking their streets again; policymakers who surrendered to fashionable extremism owe voters an apology and a course correction.
