The latest flap over left-wing streamer Hasan Piker has laid bare the Democrats’ moral confusion, and it’s no accident that moderate voices are furious. Piker’s repeated attacks on American Jews and shocking lines like saying America “deserved” 9/11 have turned what should be a straightforward condemnation into a political fight over who in the party still stands for basic decency. The American people deserve a party that protects Jewish Americans and our allies, not one that tiptoes around antisemitic influencers.
For years Piker has trafficked in outrageous, dehumanizing rhetoric — praising Hamas, denigrating Orthodox Jews, and likening Zionism to Nazism — and those positions are now a liability the left can’t paper over. This isn’t “robust debate,” it’s targeted, hateful language that endangers American Jews and weakens the bonds that keep our country and our allies safe. When influential figures spread that poison on massive platforms, it’s the duty of decent leaders to call it out immediately.
So when Democratic Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed rolled up with Piker on the campaign trail, it was a stunning lapse in judgment that rightly drew bipartisan alarm. El-Sayed later scrambled to distance his campaign, insisting Piker doesn’t speak for him, but the association already did the damage and cost him credibility with voters who want safe streets and common-sense patriotism. Voters don’t forgive performative condemnations when the optics show reckless alliances with radicals.
Enough elected Democrats have finally admitted the problem, with Rep. Josh Gottheimer and Rep. Mike Lawler introducing a bipartisan resolution condemning antisemitic, hate-filled rhetoric from online personalities. That step is welcome, but it’s a minimal first move — words on a resolution won’t protect Jewish Americans or rebuild trust in a party that seems increasingly unwilling to police its own. Real accountability means refusing to platform or campaign alongside agitators who celebrate violence and target a religious minority.
The larger lesson for conservatives and patriotic Americans is plain: the left’s embrace of influencers like Piker exposes a split between those who love America and those who would undermine it for clout. This is a cultural fight as much as a political one, and we shouldn’t shrink from naming the danger or from holding our leaders — on both sides — to a higher standard of loyalty to the country and to our Jewish neighbors. The voters who built this country expect courage, not cowardice.
If Democrats are serious about governing, they must choose between radical activists and mainstream America; silence and equivocation are no longer acceptable. Conservatives will keep pushing for real consequences, for protecting Jewish communities, and for making clear that antisemitism has no place in American political life. The time for half-measures is over; principled leadership and firm action are what hardworking Americans expect and deserve.
