Denver’s city government and a coalition of civil-rights groups have gone to court in a preemptive move to stop the federal government from placing armed ICE officers at polling locations ahead of the November midterms, filing the suit on September 10, 2026 as advocates warned that armed presence would intimidate voters. This lawsuit leans on long-standing protections against armed forces at elections and accuses DHS of adopting a vague policy that could allow federal agents to operate at or near polling places under the guise of serving warrants.
Washington’s new border czar, Tom Homan, tore into the lawsuit and the sanctuary-city theater that spawned it, arguing that local leaders who shield criminal noncitizens should not be allowed to handcuff federal law enforcement. Homan has repeatedly insisted the administration will enforce immigration laws and push back against cities that refuse to cooperate, making clear the federal government will not be bullied out of doing its job.
At the same time, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin told conservative media that claims about Representative Ilhan Omar’s immigration history are part of an ongoing inquiry, saying “something’s going to happen” while the department declined to comment on specific, active investigations. Those comments come after years of public questions about Omar’s past filings and financial disclosures, and the administration’s statements make it plain that no one is above the law if evidence of fraud exists.
Never forget what’s really happening: liberal-run cities and their activist lawyers are weaponizing courts and nerves to shield political allies and to prevent federal agents from doing routine enforcement that protects communities. If the left really cared about democracy, they’d welcome lawful enforcement of immigration statutes and oppose any attempt to use fear to suppress citizen voting — instead they run to the courtroom to score political points while leaving neighborhoods vulnerable.
Patriots should stand with our law-enforcement professionals and demand transparency and due process, not performative outrage on parade. We owe it to honest voters and to the rule of law to let investigators follow evidence where it leads and to resist sanctuary posturing that substitutes emotion for public safety.
