During a recent hearing, Congressman Robert Garcia (D-CA) praised the Biden administration’s approach to the southern border, claiming that they had prevented potential chaos once Title 42 had ended last month. Thank goodness the Democrats are taking clear action to improve border security, unlike their Republican counterparts who are against funding for it. Garcia also went on to accuse Republicans of wanting to destroy the Federal Bureau Investigation. Classic left-wing conspiracy theories at work.
But while Garcia is busy showering praise on the Biden-Harris administration, the fact remains that there is much to be concerned about at the southern border. Despite the decrease in illegal encounters since Title 42 ended, the number of illegal crossings still remains historically high. In fact, just on Monday of this week, there was another stampede of illegal immigrants trying to force their way into Brownsville, Texas via the New International Bridge in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
Moreover, let’s not forget the tragic case of a child migrant who died in Border Patrol custody. The Biden administration may be patting themselves on the back, but they cannot escape responsibility for the terrible outcomes of their policies. Democrats were so eager to reverse any Trump-era policy that they seem to have overlooked the implications of their own decisions.
It is only thanks to the tireless work of Border Patrol agents that any semblance of control has been restored to the southern border. Unfortunately, the staffing shortages within Border Patrol that were discussed during this hearing only add to the difficulties faced by our brave agents. It’s high time the Democrats stop grandstanding and take border security seriously. The safety of American citizens and the lives of innocent migrants depend on it.
