The prosecutor in question, Derek Hines, was employed as a special counsel to former FBI director Louis Freeh at Freeh Group International Solutions. This lobbying and risk management consultancy firm accompanied Hunter Biden on his overseas business dealings. One notable case they were involved in was the consultancy work for Romanian real estate tycoon Gabriel Popoviciu, who was accused of bribery by the State Department during the Obama administration when Joe Biden was Vice President.
