In 1948, shortly after the Jewish state of Israel was founded, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) was established. The IDF have defended the tiny nation of Israel from repeated attacks by Arab forces, including the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, the 1967 Six-Day War, the 1973 Yom Kippur War, and the 1982 Lebanon War. The IDF has played a crucial role in protecting Israel from its enemies.
One unique aspect of the IDF is the equal treatment of women, who are conscripted into the military alongside their male counterparts at 18 years old. This sets Israel apart from many other countries in the region. However, the sacrifices and dedication of the IDF are often overlooked by those who oppose Israel.

Recently, Noa Cochva, Miss Israel 2021 and IDF soldier, conducted a social experiment in New York to start a peaceful dialogue about the experiences of Israeli soldiers. Unfortunately, she faced hostility and aggression from some individuals. Despite trying to engage in peaceful conversation, she was verbally attacked and even physically assaulted, demonstrating the level of animosity faced by those who defend Israel.
In addition to facing violence, Noa Cochva had previously been attacked at a pro-Palestinian rally in Times Square, which resulted in a black eye. Despite these challenges, she remains dedicated to her duty and has even put her culinary studies on hold to serve as a medic in the IDF, caring for both Israeli soldiers and even Hamas fighters.
Cochva’s experiences shed light on the ongoing hostility and ignorance directed towards those who defend Israel. Her compassion and dedication to saving lives, regardless of affiliation, stand in stark contrast to the hate and prejudice she has encountered. It serves as a reminder that individuals have the choice to show compassion and understanding or to give in to hatred and intolerance. The Israel Defense Forces and individuals like Noa Cochva embody the values of compassion and dedication in the face of adversity.
