Equating the release of terrorists with the release of innocent civilians held hostage by Hamas is absurd. It’s disheartening to see NBC News give a platform to these interns who refuse to even sign their names on the letter. They claim to represent various backgrounds and identities, including queer individuals, while conveniently ignoring the fact that Hamas actively persecutes the LGBTQ+ community. NBC News should be holding these interns accountable for their lack of understanding and providing balanced reporting on the conflict.
President Biden has faced criticism from the progressive wing of his party for his support of Israel, and these interns’ letter only amplifies those concerns. It’s clear that the Biden administration needs to stand strong in its support of Israel and not give in to the pressures of those who fail to recognize the threats Israel faces from terrorism.
