Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) is taking a familiar page out of the liberal elite’s playbook, shuffling his privileged children back to the pristine, affluent Marin County. This is the county where both he and his wife attended private schools, far removed from the chaotic reality that many Californian families face daily.
As the Governor’s eldest son gears up to start high school, their sudden relocation reeks of the typical liberal hypocrisy. Newsom’s desperateness to finish his term without any inconvenience to his family is a textbook lesson in how to dodge the mess he’s helped create. Word from the insiders reveals that the family’s split between Sacramento and Marin is strategically planned to avoid disruption to their children’s education right when Newsom’s term is expiring. Apparently, sacrifices and struggle are for the common folk, not the Newsoms.

Caught in the spotlight, Newsom’s spokesperson sang the usual tune about the family’s noble intent to “ensure continuity in their children’s education.” But let’s be honest—life’s a lot more comfortable when your kids aren’t stuck in underfunded public schools. The family will be cozying up with extended relatives, avoiding the burdensome task of renting or purchasing a new home in an area where they once enjoyed the good life. It’s a win-win for Newsom, sidestepping the very housing crisis that’s mushroomed under his watch.
Of course, this isn’t groundbreaking news—California governors have done the dual-residence jig before. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Brown pulled the same stunt. But somehow, Newsom’s timing feels particularly self-serving, especially as he’s busy trotting around as Biden’s cheerleader. As he clicks his heels from Sacramento to Marin and back, it’s worth noting that his rumored ambitions to replace Biden seem more laughable with every move.
And as the cherry on top, Newsom is expected to represent Biden at the first presidential debate. Imagine that—a governor who has plunged his state into deeper decay standing in for a president whose approval ratings are hanging by a thread. Newsom, continually batting away rumors of a 2024 run, just might be the epitome of the out-of-touch politicians that voters are growing increasingly tired of.
The Washington Examiner, always hot on the trail, has reached out to Newsom’s office for comment. The response will likely be another exercise in polished political bafflegab. Until then, Californians remain stuck with the leadership they somehow keep voting for.
