Former ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley extended a warm welcome to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as he announced his anticipated presidential run next week. In an exclusive on-camera interview with The Hill, Haley expressed her joy and an eagerness to see DeSantis contend as a potential candidate.
“I’m glad that he’s [DeSantis] going to be out there, because I want the American people to see who they’re choosing from,” stated Haley. “Welcome to the race. We’ve been waiting.”
Get excited! Time for a new generation.

Haley, whose candidature was covered by Townhall in February, asserted that it was time for a “new generation of leadership” to concentrate on crucial issues like fiscal responsibility, border security, and patriotism towards America. Haley’s campaign announcement emphasized her unique background as a proud daughter of Indian immigrants and the need to focus on similarities between people, rather than their differences.
Reports previously indicated that DeSantis was gearing up for an announcement of his presidential run. The current list of presidential contenders includes Haley, former President Donald Trump, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, radio host Larry Elder, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson, and incumbent President Joe Biden.
In an interview last month, Haley professed that Biden would not likely make it through a second term, thereby emphasizing the significance of electoral responsibility. “Because the idea that he [Biden] would make it until 86 years old is not something that I think is likely,” Haley cautioned.
It’s the new generation of leadership like Haley and DeSantis who will take charge and bring about positive change in America. There is little doubt that these conservative contenders will succeed because they prioritize the needs of the American people and bring a unique approach to leadership.
