The Biden administration is once again putting their radical leftist agenda ahead of the financial well-being of everyday Americans by refusing to cancel President Joe Biden’s unaffordable and unsustainable student debt relief program. Republican Virginia Rep. Bob Good has taken a stand against this out-of-control spending by leading the charge on a joint resolution to block Biden’s Department of Education from granting up to $20,000 in debt “forgiveness” to individuals with government-issued student loans.
Thankfully, the Republican majority in the House is set to vote on the resolution in the coming days and it has a good chance of passing. However, the resolution is unlikely to go anywhere in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Despite the fact that the program has already faced several legal battles on its constitutionality, the White House has remained steadfast in its support, stating that “blocking student loan ‘forgiveness’ would weaken America’s middle class”. This is a clear attempt to guilt hardworking Americans into supporting a policy that will do little to help them in the long run and will instead further inflate our unsustainable national debt.
Although Biden has attempted to justify his student loan program by tying it to COVID-19 relief and using the HEROES Act of 2003, the program still remains unconstitutional and fiscally irresponsible. Instead of providing relief to 40 million Americans struggling with student debt, this program will only benefit a small percentage of individuals while burdening the rest of the country with unsustainable levels of debt.
It is time for the Biden administration to stop catering to the ultra-leftist elements of their party and uphold the principles of fiscal responsibility and good governance. The Supreme Court is set to rule on the student loan plan in the coming months, but in the meantime, we must continue to push back against this reckless spending and prioritize the well-being of all Americans, not just a select few.
