Russia’s Escalation Brings NATO to the Brink: Time for Strength

I watched Newsmax’s Shelby Wilder describe what so many Americans only see on the newsreel: scrambling into bomb shelters in Kyiv as sirens scream and missiles rain down. Her account is a gut-punch — ordinary families forced underground while the Kremlin doubles down on a brutal, grinding campaign that shows no sign of mercy.

Make no mistake: Moscow has stepped up the violence, targeting Ukraine’s cities and critical infrastructure with waves of missiles and drones that have killed civilians and crippled power and fuel supplies. This isn’t random chaos; it’s a deliberate strategy to break a nation’s will and to coerce Europe by choking off energy and using terror as a tool of statecraft.

Worse, those attacks have sharpened legitimate fears that Russia might try to drag NATO directly into the fight — through electronic warfare, errant or spoofed drones, or false-flag operations meant to justify a wider strike. Poland, the Baltic states, and NATO planners have all warned about the rising risk of provocations that could be misstated as an attack on an ally, and that danger must be treated as real, not hypothetical.

We patriots know what weakness looks like: appeasement and indecision invite aggression. NATO and the United States must not blink; our deterrence posture exists because history teaches that only credible strength prevents war. The alliance itself has been clear that Russia’s war is the gravest threat to European security in decades and that NATO must modernize and show resolve.

If Washington dithers or plays diplomatic games while Kyiv bleeds, the cost will be borne by our children — not just Ukrainians, but every American family threatened by a bolder, more reckless Kremlin. Analysts from respected defense institutions have laid out the scenarios where limited Russian provocations spiral into wider conflict, and the only reliable way to avoid that nightmare is strong, sustained support for Ukraine and hardened defenses on NATO’s eastern flank.

So to my fellow Americans: stand with those who fight for liberty and stand up for a robust NATO that keeps the peace through strength. Demand that our leaders stop offering half-measures and start delivering the weapons, intelligence, and resolve that win wars without surrendering our principles. The choice is simple — we can be the nation that protects freedom, or we can watch freedom be picked apart by men who respect nothing but force.
