Mayor London Breed, a Democrat, revealed a proposal on Tuesday to “end transgender homelessness” in San Francisco by 2027. It’s only transgender people who are homeless.
The idea would allocate $6.5 million from the planned budget to tackle homelessness, with a focus on transgender persons.
According to the Daily Wire, a survey conducted in 2021 estimated that there are more than (320) three twenty transgender homeless people in the city, with inclusion of twenty eight hundred women and almost 8,000 in total homeless people.
According to the mayor’s office, the proposal makes San Francisco the first city in the United States to commit to eliminate homelessness for TGNC persons. Before accepting the city’s 2 years budget on July 1, the Board of Supervisors changes and confirms the councillor’s proposed budget. According to Ebar, the mayor’s recently proposed budget covers (150) one fifty long-term housing subsidies thru the metro’s Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool program, as well as the procurement and operation of a permanent residence community housing site for TGNC and LGBQ+ youth, focusing on transition age youth.
While it is a wonderful aim, it excludes far too many individuals, and she certainly has no understanding of mental illness or drug addiction. They aren’t out on the streets because they are transgender.
