Senator Warns: Beijing Needs to Deliver on Boeing Deal

Senator Jerry Moran was blunt on Fox News: Washington should not treat a headline deal as a done deal until Beijing puts ink on the paper and Americans can see the terms. He warned that we are “waiting for China to say exactly what it agreed to,” and that common-sense accountability must follow any announcement that affects our national security and jobs.

Reports out of the president’s summit in Beijing say China agreed to buy roughly 200 Boeing jets, a deal that would mean thousands of good-paying manufacturing and supply-chain jobs across the heartland. That kind of purchase helps revive American industry and vindicates the administration’s push for fairer trade, but it is only valuable if it is real and enforceable for U.S. farmers and workers who have waited too long for results.

Conservatives should cheer real wins that put Americans first, but we should also channel Moran’s skepticism into concrete demands: timeline, verification, and consequences if Beijing reneges. China has a long record of playing the long game and using promises as leverage; we must insist that any aircraft or agricultural commitments be matched by verifiable actions that benefit Main Street, not just Beltway photo-ops.

At the same time our diplomats pressed for economic deals, our military and partners struck hard at Islamic State networks in Nigeria, reportedly eliminating a senior ISIS operative in a joint U.S.-Nigerian operation. This decisive action demonstrates that American power still matters when commanders have the backing of patriotic leadership willing to act against evil abroad.

Putting these two developments together should remind every American what strong leadership looks like: protect our people with force when needed, and secure jobs and supply chains with tough, accountable diplomacy. That is the opposite of the appeasement and drift we saw from previous administrations; it is a policy that rewards our workers and deters our enemies.

Now is not the time for naive optimism or partisan hair-splitting — it is the moment to demand clarity from Beijing, support our military where it proves its worth, and ensure that every deal produces real results for farmers, factory workers, and veterans. If Washington keeps the pressure on and follows Moran’s warning to verify commitments, hardworking Americans will be the ones to benefit from both security and prosperity.
