America’s museums were supposed to be temples of our shared history, not classrooms for leftist catechisms, and last night’s Fox segment highlighted how far the Smithsonian has wandered from that simple truth. On The Ingraham Angle, Representatives Brandon Gill and Bryan Steil tore into museum curators who are increasingly trading artifacts for agitprop, exposing what every patriotic American already senses: an intellectual rot eating at the institutions we pay for with our taxes.
This isn’t idle culture-war posturing; it’s a betrayal of the public trust when curators prioritize ideology over facts and context. Taxpayers should not be forced to bankroll exhibits that pick sides in partisan debates or sanitize the story of America to fit a fashionable narrative of victimhood and grievance.
When elected officials step up and call out this woke capture of cultural institutions, conservatives should cheer, not sneer. Gill and Steil did what too many in Washington fail to do — they held a federally funded institution accountable and demanded answers about who is shaping the story told to our children.
The solution is not to shutter museums but to restore balance: bring in bona fide historians, ensure transparency in exhibit development, and make funding contingent on educational standards rather than political messaging. If the Smithsonian wants to survive as America’s attic, it must stop auditioning for the latest progressive marching orders and start honoring the broad sweep of our history, warts and all.
