Brigadier General Blaine Holt (Ret.) laid out what every patriot needs to hear: the United States and our allies cannot allow Tehran to choke off the world’s lifeblood — energy — and if necessary we must strike Iran’s energy infrastructure to restore order and protect global markets. Holt made these warnings on Newsmax’s Wake Up America Weekend, speaking plainly about the strategic targets and the consequences for a regime that has backed terror and chaos for decades.
This is not idle talk. Over the last months U.S. forces and Israel have already taken direct action against Iranian facilities tied to oil export capabilities, including hits near Kharg Island, while the administration publicly warned Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face crippling consequences. Those strikes were decisive, and the diplomatic theater around the Strait cannot be allowed to paper over Tehran’s aggression.
Holt’s point was as clear as it was unvarnished: if America and Israel remove Iran’s ability to weaponize its energy exports, the regime’s power to fund proxies and foment violence collapses. He urged securing critical nodes like Kharg Island and keeping maritime chokepoints open so American diplomacy and commerce can function without ransom to a brutal clerical junta. That is common-sense strategy, not wishful thinking.
There will be costs, and the left’s pearl-clutchers who shriek about gas prices owe veterans and service members a little gratitude instead of grievance. Disrupting Iranian oil flows is a necessary blow to a regime that finances terror; temporary pain at the pump is a small price to pay for long-term security and a freer Middle East. The reality is that energy shocks are manageable when our leadership is clear, decisive, and backed by renewed domestic energy production.
Make no mistake: the aim here is to neutralize a hostile regime’s capacity to wage war and export instability, not to indulge appeasement or endless back-and-forth apologies to our adversaries. Conservatives who believe in strength understand that targeted strikes against infrastructure that enables malign behavior are a legitimate tool to bring about strategic defeat of revolutionary regimes. At home, this moment must be a wake-up call to end the politics that hollowed out our energy sector and left Americans vulnerable to foreign blackmail. We should boost refinery capacity, expand domestic drilling and refining where sensible, and cut regulatory chains that drive production overseas — energy independence is national security. Those who oppose a strong energy posture and a robust military posture are choosing weakness over victory.
Washington’s job is to protect American families and keep commerce flowing, not to cower at the threats of a murderous regime. The men and women in uniform deserve our support while they dismantle the financial arteries of Iran’s terror machine, and conservative leaders must back that mission without apology.
