Trump Appointee Judge Cannon Takes Charge in Assassination Plot Case Near Trump Golf Course

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, a commendable Trump appointee, is stepping up once again to oversee a case that many in the media would prefer to sweep under the rug. The latest trial on her docket involves Ryan Routh, a man who allegedly attempted to carry out an assassination plot against the former president on his favored golf course in West Palm Beach. It seems the left’s obsession with taking down Trump has driven some to the brink, with Routh’s actions being a testament to just how far the Democrats will go.

The drama unfolded on September 15 when a Secret Service advance team noticed something a bit fishy—specifically, the barrel of a rifle poking through a fence near the golf course. The agents took swift action, opening fire and forcing Routh to flee like a startled rabbit, proving that even during an assassination attempt, the guy couldn’t shoot straight. Fortunately, some eagle-eyed witnesses managed to give law enforcement a solid description, leading to Routh’s eventual capture in Martin County without too much fuss. But let it be clear: Routh’s plan was much more sinister than just a bad day at the range.

Routh isn’t just an assassin wannabe; he’s also a man with questionable ambitions, having previously sought to recruit soldiers for the fight in Ukraine. He even made headlines in the New York Times and Newsweek—talk about a ‘who’s who’ of troublemaking. Now he’s facing serious legal repercussions after a Miami grand jury slapped him with a federal indictment adding more charges to his already hefty load. In addition to attempting to assassinate a presidential candidate—a crime that, let’s face it, will earn him a well-deserved eternity in prison—Routh is also dealing with additional counts for firearm possession and assaulting a federal officer.

Despite this being an example of true law enforcement efficiency, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland decided to pat himself on the back and proclaim that justice would be served. Meanwhile, the usual suspects in the mainstream media will no doubt attempt to downplay this serious incident. Would they react similarly if the roles were reversed? Probably not, and therein lies the hypocrisy.

With Judge Cannon calling the shots in this case—a judge who recently dismissed the dubious classified documents case initiated by the Biden administration—there is hope among conservatives that justice might actually serve its purpose this time. Cannon has already promised to bring some much-needed integrity to the courtroom. As she gears up for the Routh trial, one can only imagine the frustration building among those who would prefer to see Trump on the hot seat instead. But with Cannon at the helm, Routh might just find out that the long arm of the law has a few lessons left to teach about the risks of attempting to cross such a line.
