All I can say is Trump must think Rogers has the best chance to turn the seat red versus the other candidates.

However, Rogers faces formidable competition in the primary race. The unexpected entry of former Rep. Justin Amash, known for his departure from the GOP and criticism of Trump, adds complexity to the contest. Additionally, former Rep. Peter Meijer, while well-funded, faces challenges within the Michigan GOP due to his past disagreements with Trump. Trump's endorsement solidifies his sway in Michigan's political landscape, making any departure from his support a risky proposition.
Businessman Sandy Pensler's self-financing capability adds another dimension to the primary competition. Yet, Trump's backing of Rogers diminishes Pensler's prospects. Moreover, former Detroit Police Chief James Craig's exit from the race in favor of Rogers further boosts Rogers' momentum.
On the Democratic side, the primary battle intensifies, with Rep. Elissa Slotkin and progressive actor Hill Harper competing for the nomination. Slotkin, a former CIA agent, is viewed as a formidable contender, given her track record in retaining a swing district and fundraising prowess. However, Michigan's political landscape remains unpredictable, having swung from Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020.
