In a recent exclusive interview with Breitbart News, former President Donald Trump accused Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco of running the show at the Department of Justice (DOJ), rather than Attorney General Merrick Garland. According to Trump, Monaco is the one calling the shots and doing so in a “vicious” and “illegal” manner. He predicts that her actions will be exposed over the next year and a half.

Trump pointed out that Monaco has a close relationship with Andrew Weissman, who was a key player in the Mueller investigation into Trump. Trump claims that Weissman, who now works in the private sector, suffers from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” along with other individuals who have targeted him for years.
Monaco has a history in the Obama administration, serving as a Homeland Security adviser. She was particularly close with Susan Rice, Obama’s former national security adviser. Republican sources have suggested that Monaco has a significant influence over the DOJ’s decisions, more so than what is apparent.
Garland, on the other hand, has faced controversy during his time as attorney general, specifically regarding the perceived politicization of the DOJ. He authorized the highly controversial FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago and has allowed investigations into Trump to continue, drawing criticism from Trump and his supporters.
Monaco, in response to Trump’s claims, defended the Justice Department, stating that the department is filled with dedicated professionals who work regardless of who is in power. However, some congressional committees, including the House Judiciary Committee, have been investigating Monaco’s role and the perceived politicization of law enforcement. It is expected that her involvement will be a central focus of these investigations in the coming months.
