President Trump’s Gaza peace framework is the kind of unapologetic, results-oriented diplomacy America sorely needs — it doesn’t paper over the problem, it forces a solution. By convening the international Board of Peace and marshaling pledges for reconstruction, the administration has given teeth to a plan that demands Hamas disarm or be left out of Gaza’s future. This approach is bold, decisive, and exactly the opposite of the empty promises we used to see from bureaucrats who preferred press releases to results.
Israel’s Consul General Ofir Akunis told viewers plainly on Sunday that real peace requires a demilitarized Gaza — no weapons, no tunnels, no bargaining with terrorists who prey on civilians. He is right: until Hamas lays down arms and accepts civilian governance, any rebuilding money or diplomatic niceties are wasted. It’s refreshing to hear an Israeli official call out the obvious instead of sugarcoating jihadist ambitions.
Conservatives should applaud the President for building an alternative to the UN-controlled status quo that too often enables terror and corruption. The Board of Peace, announced and championed by the White House, channels funds and security commitments in ways designed to bypass hostile or ineffectual institutions and get aid where it actually helps people — not party operatives. This is the kind of American leadership that puts results before virtue-signaling and that insists our taxpayer dollars will not be recycled into the hands of terrorists.
Let’s be blunt: reconstruction cannot begin while armed militias run Gaza or while Iran continues to bankroll proxies across the region. Reporting shows reconstruction efforts have stalled because Hamas refuses to disarm and international attention has been diverted by other crises, which only underscores the wisdom of insisting on security first. If we care about rebuilding lives and saving children, we must demand disarmament and robust verification — anything less is moral cowardice.
The critics in New York and Brussels who wring their hands about process miss the point — peace without security is the same old folly dressed in new clothes. The Security Council’s own documents and the White House’s public plan make clear that the only durable path forward is one that ties aid and reconstruction to concrete steps toward demilitarization and a technocratic administration that can restore order. There’s no room for appeasement; pressure works, and leadership must be willing to use it.
American patriots should stand with Israel and with a President who finally tells the truth: Hamas must surrender its weapons or Gaza will not be rebuilt on the terrorists’ terms. Support the Board of Peace, demand accountability for every dollar, and back policies that protect our allies and punish those who sponsor terror. If we want peace that lasts, we must be willing to enforce it — and we should be proud that this administration is doing just that.
