For the ninth straight night the United States, at CENTCOM’s direction, launched precision strikes on Iranian military targets to degrade the regime’s capacity to menace shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to punish those who have been waging a campaign against innocent mariners. American forces struck coastal radar, air defenses, missile and drone storage sites in a measured operation aimed at restoring deterrence and safeguarding global commerce.
Washington made clear these strikes were not abstract saber-rattling but direct responses to Iranian attacks that have cost American lives, including the deaths of U.S. service members in recent days and the discovery of remains after an attack in the region. The reality is grim: our troops have been targeted while defending partner nations and vital shipping lanes, and the U.S. military has answered with relentless, disciplined force.
This firm action is exactly what a nation that values strength should demand from its leaders; wavering or begging for talks while our sailors and soldiers bleed would be unforgivable. President Trump and his commanders have shown they will not allow Iran’s theocratic bullies to run roughshod over international law or American interests, and conservatives should stand behind the men and women who carry out that policy.
The strikes also serve a practical purpose: to degrade the IRGC’s ability to lay mines, launch one-way attack drones and threaten commercial traffic that keeps energy prices stable and economies running. Reimposing pressure on Tehran and enforcing a naval blockade where necessary is an uncomfortable but necessary task to protect American livelihoods and punish a regime that chooses aggression over diplomacy.
That does not mean escalation for its own sake. Responsible conservatives know the difference between decisive action and endless war; we demand a clear objective, full support for our troops, and a political leadership willing to finish the job on terms that secure America’s long-term interests. Congress and the country must back the mission with resources and resolve, not political theater or appeasement.
Stand with the troops who carry out these orders and with the commanders who apply American power judiciously; this is about defending our people, our partners, and the free flow of commerce against a regime that has chosen violence. The cost has been paid in American blood — more than a dozen service members so far — and the nation owes them unwavering support as CENTCOM restores deterrence and protects our way of life.
