Federal officials quietly ordered a temporary pause on most traffic stops during enforcement operations after incidents in Texas and Maine, a swipe at tactics that have long helped remove dangerous criminal aliens.
The deadly episodes — including a shooting in Biddeford, Maine, and another in the Houston area — have been seized on by opponents of robust immigration enforcement to demand immediate pullbacks and public apologies. These are tragic events that merit investigation, yet they should not become the pretext for gutting tools that keep communities safer or for letting career criminals slip through the cracks.
On Fox’s Will Cain Show, Border Czar Tom Homan made the commonsense point that this temporary pause is not a wholesale end to ICE arrests and insisted agents will continue to apprehend criminal aliens through other avenues. Homan’s straight-shooting defense of law enforcement underlined the difference between thoughtful review and reflexive surrender to political pressure.
Patriots should stand with officers, not with activists who reflexively cheer whenever law enforcement is asked to temper tactics.
