Ben Shapiro Outwits Swalwell in House Committee Showdown

Ben Shapiro never misses a chance to make Democrats squirm, and his recent appearance before the House Judiciary Committee was no exception. While testifying about the Global Alliance for Responsible Media’s alleged attacks on The Daily Wire, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) tried to redirect the spotlight onto the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. It’s as if Democrats believe that mentioning the project will magically resurrect their sagging poll numbers.

Swalwell asked Shapiro if he agreed with Project 2025’s recommendations, to which Shapiro wittily replied that, like President Trump, he hadn’t delved into it deeply. Shapiro then likened the Democrats to Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, suggesting they think just saying “Project 2025” enough times will bring their presidential hopes back to life. The House committee crowd couldn’t help but laugh, and even Swalwell managed a grin.

Not satisfied with merely a sidetrack, Swalwell pressed on about aspects of Project 2025, sneakily aligning with its goals of cutting bureaucracy and boosting government efficiency. Shapiro, never one to miss a sarcastic jab, congratulated Swalwell on his sudden conversion to Republican ideals. Swalwell, with a chuckle, remarked that his parents would be proud. One wonders what actual Republicans thought of Swalwell’s lighthearted banter.

The conversation had initially veered into Project 2025 territory due to an in-depth report from the committee, which showcased GARM’s likely illegal collusion against conservative voices. In what is almost a knee-jerk reaction, Democrats switched the focus to Project 2025, turning it into their latest bogeyman. Predictably, Biden’s 2024 campaign has latched onto it, making it a central talking point.

In response to the hysteria, the Heritage Foundation issued a clarification on Tuesday, countering any wild claims of radicalism. Although the left is in a panic, Project 2025 is more of a blueprint for a competent and streamlined government, certainly not the end-of-days scenario Democrats are spinning. Their exaggerated fear only solidifies the importance of reining in government excess and inefficiency, concepts that seem increasingly foreign to the Democratic playbook. So, here’s to Shapiro for keeping the conversation both enlightening and entertaining.
