The southern border crisis is shaping up to be one of the most catastrophic failures of the Biden administration. Under President Biden, the U.S. has witnessed an unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants that has left many Americans scratching their heads in disbelief. With Vice President Kamala Harris standing firmly on the sidelines, it appears that the current White House is perfectly content to watch the chaos unfold without a hint of remorse. Harris boldly stated that if she were to take the reins, she would change absolutely nothing, hinting that those millions of illegal crossings might just be the new normal.
In a recent CBS News interview, Harris’s campaign manager made it clear that the vice president intends to stick with Biden’s approach — and that includes the partial asylum ban implemented last June. This policy allows the administration to put the brakes on asylum requests when the number of unauthorized crossings reaches the conveniently high figure of 2,500. One has to wonder whether that’s merely a bureaucratic hurdle or a savvy way to simply throw up one’s hands and declare, “Well, it’s not that bad!”

Despite her role as the so-called “border czar,” Harris has overseen a staggering 17 million illegal immigrants flowing into the U.S. during Biden’s term. But instead of taking accountability for this imploding situation, Chávez Rodríguez chose to turn the blame on former President Trump, claiming he left behind a dismal situation at the border. Apparently, the Democrats want to give Trump an award for “Most Creative Scapegoat of the Year” as they insist that the inability for Congress to agree on sensible immigration solutions is the real issue.
If Harris genuinely had intentions of tackling border issues head-on, one might expect to see plans that include effective enforcement of immigration laws. However, her five-point strategy to address the “root causes” of illegal immigration seems more focused on diplomacy and foreign aid than on actual border security. This strategy might be perfect for a college international relations seminar, but it doesn’t exactly scream “Let’s keep America safe!”
The numbers speak louder than Harris’s empty promises. More than 4.31 million illegal crossings have been recorded since Biden took office. These are not simply statistics; they represent a clear failure in leadership. The Biden-Harris administration’s track record on border security looks more like a parody than an actual plan for a sovereign nation. As the tide continues to rise, many wonder how many more headlines will be written about the state of the southern border before someone in power decides it’s time to step up and take responsibility.
