Chicago’s Sanctuary Policies Slammed for Destroying Neighborhoods

Chicago resident Danielle Carter-Walters is fighting back against the city’s sanctuary policies, saying they’ve destroyed neighborhoods and put Americans last. As vice president of the group Chicago Flips Red, she recently told Congress that lifelong residents are being pushed aside while illegal immigrants get free housing, healthcare, and other benefits paid for by taxpayers.

Carter-Walters blasted Democrats for ignoring the crisis they created. She called out Chicago mayors Lori Lightfoot and Brandon Johnson for putting illegal immigrants ahead of hardworking families. Schools are overcrowded, crime is soaring, and affordable housing has vanished under their leadership. She accused them of fueling the collapse instead of fixing it.

Sanctuary policies have turned Chicago into a “magnet for criminals,” Carter-Walters warned. She described neighborhoods overrun by gangs like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua, with parks littered with needles and homeless encampments. Police can’t do their jobs because city leaders block cooperation with federal immigration agents. Dangerous criminals are released back onto the streets instead of being deported.

The impact on black communities has been especially harsh. Carter-Walters said shelters for illegal immigrants are being dumped in historic black neighborhoods like Hyde Park. Resources meant for struggling Americans are diverted to newcomers. She slammed Democrats for living in wealthy gated communities while regular folks deal with the chaos.

President Trump’s policies offered hope, Carter-Walters said, praising him as the “People’s President.” She thanked him for standing up to sanctuary cities and pushing to withhold federal funding from places that protect illegal immigrants. Trump’s border czar has promised to make Chicago “ground zero” for deportations, targeting gang members and violent offenders.

Democratic leaders like Illinois Rep. Chuy García downplay the crisis, calling crimes by illegal immigrants “exceptions.” But Carter-Walters fired back, saying García wouldn’t recognize the truth if he visited real Chicago neighborhoods. She argued that many crimes go unreported because victims fear retaliation or don’t trust police.

The House Oversight Committee is investigating how sanctuary policies endanger public safety. Federal data shows over 600,000 non-citizens with criminal records are roaming free, including murderers and rapists. Mayors like Brandon Johnson refuse to cooperate with ICE, even as ICE warns these policies let dangerous criminals stay in communities.

Conservatives say it’s time to put Americans first. Carter-Walters and groups like Chicago Flips Red are rallying residents to demand change. They want leaders who’ll secure borders, deport criminal aliens, and rebuild neighborhoods destroyed by decades of failed Democratic policies. The message is clear: Sanctuary cities aren’t safe, and Chicago families deserve better.
