The Democratic National Committee’s long-delayed 192-page autopsy finally saw the light of day this month, and it landed like a grenade in the middle of a party already teetering on the edge. What should have been a sober, professional review instead exposed a political operation that looked more interested in spin than in learning why it lost the presidency and both chambers of Congress.
The report’s blunt findings read like a conservative checklist of Democratic failures: the national campaign failed to drive home President Trump’s negatives and, crucially, the nominee wrote off vast swaths of Middle America and rural voters who once formed the party’s backbone. Instead of confronting those weaknesses head-on, the DNC buried the autopsy for months — and when it finally released it, the paper was anemic, inconsistent, and full of consultant chatter.
Equally damning was the leadership vacuum at the top. DNC Chair Ken Martin’s handling of the review — from commissioning it to sitting on it until the leak forced his hand — has provoked anger inside the party and credible calls for his resignation. Democrats who can’t even manage a postmortem without a public meltdown are not a party ready to govern or to win back the country.

Conservatives should savor this moment of exposed Democratic incompetence and hypocrisy. The autopsy proves what we’ve been saying: the left’s elites are out of touch, obsessed with culture-war signaling while ordinary Americans choke under high costs, unsafe streets, and an invasion at the border. If Republicans stay disciplined and keep delivering on policy — lower costs, secure borders, safer streets — the American people will reject the self-infatuated politics of the coastal establishment.
This is also a warning to the GOP: don’t get cocky. The Democrats’ meltdown is an opening, but openings close fast if the opposition gets complacent. It’s time for conservatives to double down on winning the argument in the heartland, hold the media and the DNC accountable for their failures, and keep fighting for the America that works for every hardworking family, not just the Washington consultant class.
