On the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, supporters of former President Donald Trump are sharing a video of an interview he gave that day. In the interview, President Trump mentions that he paid “hundreds” of his own employees to search for survivors in the aftermath of the attacks. Being a native New Yorker, President Trump expressed his concern for his fellow residents who were inside the World Trade Center when it was hit by airplanes flown by terrorists. He mentioned that his staff, who were not experienced in this type of work, saved the lives of at least five first responders.
President Trump described the situation as devastating and dangerous, with buildings in a weakened state. He talked about the shock his staff faced when they discovered the number of bodies and expressed relief when they found survivors such as the five firemen they had just rescued. While no exact number of survivors is available, President Trump highlighted the heroic efforts of his employees at a time when the nation was in mourning.
Trump paid men to dig through the rubble after 9/11:
"I have hundreds of men inside. They've never done work like this. The great thing is when they find someone alive like the 5 fireman they just found. But generally speaking that's not the case." pic.twitter.com/3ptFSaegFU

During his time in office, President Trump worked to support the victims of 9/11. He signed into law compensation for victims until the year 2092, ensuring ongoing financial support for those affected by the attacks. Additionally, in 2020, he allocated an extra $2 million in funding for the National September 11 Memorial & Memorial Plaza. These actions were aimed at providing critical support for the memorial’s operation, maintenance, and security.
In contrast, President Joe Biden faced criticism for not attending New York’s ceremony honoring the victims on the 22nd anniversary. Instead, he sent Vice President Kamala Harris to represent the administration. This decision made Biden the first sitting president to skip the ceremony. While Vice President Harris stood alongside Mayor Eric Adams in photos from the event, it’s worth noting that Adams has been vocal in his criticism of the White House’s immigration policies, blaming them for overburdening New York City’s services.
