America First Legal has decided enough is enough and is taking the New York District Attorney’s Office to task for playing a game of hide and seek with public records related to the prosecution of former President Donald Trump. The gall of this left-leaning DA, Alvin Bragg, to sidestep a straightforward request under the New York Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) is enough to make any red-blooded American’s blood boil. In March 2023, AFL launched an investigation, eager to pull back the curtain on the DA’s questionable motives and communications surrounding the case.
The group raised eyebrows over comments made by Democrat political operative Lanny Davis, who shamelessly claimed credit for triggering the Trump investigation. While some might dismiss Davis’s remarks as mere hot air, it only adds fuel to the fire of suspicion that Bragg’s fixation on prosecuting Trump reeks of partisan bias from the very start. These are the tactics that cheer on a dubious investigation while real issues slip through the cracks.

It doesn’t help that Trump’s conviction came courtesy of a political circus, packed with officials whose ties to the Democratic Party run deep. AFL has been busy filing records requests to uncover all these shady connections, doubling down on requests related to Judge Juan Merchan, who is conveniently linked to leftist fundraising efforts. Merchan’s daughter is busy lining the pockets of Democrats, so who would be surprised if there’s some questionable favoritism at play here?
Fast forward to June 3, 2024, when Bragg reluctantly coughed up a whopping one single-page record after dragging his feet through numerous extensions. That’s right, folks, one page. Even the DA’s office acknowledged that they found more than a few records related to Trump’s communications with the Department of Justice but decided to wave the grand jury secrecy card to block any access. Sounds like a strategy straight out of the Democrat playbook.
Now, AFL isn’t letting up. They’ve taken their fight all the way to the Supreme Court of New York, demanding an array of records to expose potential collusion between Bragg’s office and high-flying liberal allies, like the Biden Administration and the mainstream media. As if that weren’t enough, AFL has also inquired about Matthew Colangelo, the former Biden DOJ employee who became a low-level prosecutor, and was swiftly assigned to go after Trump. It’s almost as if they had a GPA requirement for entering the anti-Trump crusade.
The legal organization makes it perfectly clear: where there’s smoke, there’s fire, especially when it comes to “justice operating in the shadows.” They’re on a mission to ensure that Americans know exactly what’s happening behind the scenes. If evidence of back-channel communications is uncovered, it would be a wake-up call for all Americans that the integrity of their legal system is hanging by a thread, all thanks to partisan politics. In a time when transparency is more vital than ever, AFL is ready to fight to uphold the truth.
