Conservative firebrand Tucker Carlson recently raised an alarm about the perils tied to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ideology, cautioning that its unchecked growth might fuel violence. In a conversation with Saagar Enjeti on Breaking Points, Carlson drew parallels between the rise of DEI principles and the segregation-era Jim Crow laws, condemning it as "grotesque." He criticized the ideology for favoring specific groups based on race or gender while penalizing others.

Emphasizing the need to uphold a colorblind meritocracy in the United States, Carlson stressed that the nation's future hinges on preserving merit-based systems. He expressed concerns that the continued promotion of this ideology could breed violence, asserting, "When you vilify a group for simply being who they are, based on appearance or lineage, that group becomes vulnerable. And the outcome isn't a matter of speculation."
Carlson attributed the proliferation of DEI ideology to what he termed as "white guilt and self-hatred," fearing that this harmful mindset might extend beyond targeting only white Americans. He vehemently criticized the ideology as "utterly unethical," drawing comparisons to the discriminatory practices of Jim Crow laws and the Nuremberg laws. He asserted his readiness to speak out equally if any group faced unjust targeting.
This cautionary statement arrives amidst ongoing debates about DEI-themed programs in education and society, sparking controversies and opposition nationwide. Instances include legal actions taken against DEI-focused teacher trainings in Pennsylvania and concerns raised about financial management at Boston University's "Antiracism" center.
